Our story

It started with one warm waffle

In 2011, we started in Breidelstraat in Bruges with something that was never really part of the plan. During a car-free Sunday, we baked fresh Liège waffles and sold them through the window. Simply to give it a try.

But the response was bigger than expected.

People stopped, came back, and told others about that warm Belgian waffle in the heart of Bruges. What started as a spontaneous idea soon grew into something we began to believe in more and more ourselves.

That is how Chez Albert was born.

In love with a Belgian classic

From the very beginning, we deliberately chose simplicity.

No long menu. No complicated concept. Just a focus on what we truly wanted to do well: baking authentic Belgian waffles.

A Liège waffle does not need much to be special. It starts with good dough, pearl sugar, heat, time, and the smell of caramel released as soon as the waffle is baked.

A little piece of Belgium in your hand

For many visitors, eating a waffle in Belgium is more than a quick snack. Just like chocolate, beer, and historic squares, the Belgian waffle is part of what makes our country so recognisable.

We want to give people that small, warm moment they take home with them. A memory of Bruges, Brussels, Antwerp, Leuven, Ostend, or one of our other cities.

From Bruges to more Belgian cities

What started in Bruges continued to grow, step by step. Today, you can find Chez Albert in several places across Belgium, where we welcome visitors from all over the world every day.

Still, our foundation remains the same: every day, we bake fresh waffles, work with quality ingredients, and hold on to the feeling it all began with: a warm Liège waffle that makes people smile.

Still the same idea

Chez Albert has grown, but our love for the Belgian waffle has not changed.

We still believe that the best things are often simple. A freshly baked waffle. The smell of caramelised sugar. A smile at the window. A small moment that makes your day better.

An authentic Belgian waffle, served warm, baked with love.
